What is the Political Courage Test?

Washington Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
It is my belief that abortion as well as many other matters should be decided by the States. The effect of Roe v. Wade means that abortion has been federalized and each person in Congress must vote his or her conscience on the matter rather than leave it to the States. I oppose abortion and believe there should be restrictions on it.
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
Unknown Position In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
In general, a balanced budget must bring in enough revenue and cut domestic, foreign policy and military spending. Compromises must be made to make these things happen.
Unknown Position Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Unknown Position Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
I support lowering of taxes as long as enough revenue will be brought in and there will be cuts to spending.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Overall, I do not favor the federal government mandating standards for education.
No Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
I support embracing technology in order to deal with environmental issues but oppose the government mandating standards.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I do not support more stringent gun legislation.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
I believe the focus on health care legislation must focus on bringing the cost of health care down.
Unknown Position Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
I believe that one continuous wall across the southern border may not be the best way to guard the border. I support legal immigration to this country.
Yes Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
I believe that the federal prohibition on marijuana should be ended.
No Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
Unknown Position Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
If there are direct threats against the United States, then the United States would be justified in using force against a hostile country attempting to possess a nuclear weapon.
My top two legislative priorities would be dealing with issues related to the national debt and foreign policy. I would like to review ways to balance the budget and review the actual importance of long-term military deployments.
